A 71 km green-season day ride between Mae Taeng and Chiang Dao — red clay two-track up to a 1,460 m ridge, a tree down across the trail, cloud and rain over the top, then coffee at Ma Doo Doi under the Doi Luang Chiang Dao massif and a long lunch at Jerns. Two riders, a CRF250L and a CRF300L.

A 54 km Sunday out of Samoeng in the middle of the rains. Part one was a disused village link trail that we turned around on — two big trunks down across a steep, wet descent, and no sane way to get four bikes over them. Part two went over the shoulder of Doi Mon Angket instead, down to noodles in Ban Kung, and then into the red clay that put most of us on the floor and sheared a set of handlebar risers 20 km from tarmac.

A 152 km dirt bike loop from Chom Thong out to Mae Chaem and back — farm roads climbing 900 metres into the hills above Ob Luang, rice-paddy singletrack, a tree down across the track, red clay slick enough to put two of us on the ground, and a chain that quietly gave up. Five riders, three CRF300Ls and two CRF250Ls, August rain.
